What Is Car Key Replacement?

Car key replacement means making a brand new working key when the original is lost, stolen or broken. For older cars that's a cut metal key. For most newer vehicles it also means programming a transponder chip, remote or smart key so the car recognizes it and starts. We can create a new key even when you have no keys left at all, using your vehicle's information and our cutting and programming equipment, and we do it where your car is parked so you don't need a tow.

Why Is Car Key Replacement Necessary?

Without a working key, your car is just a very expensive parking spot. Losing your only key means you can't drive to work, pick up the kids or even move the car, and a dealership often needs the car towed in and may have to order the key. A mobile locksmith can usually handle it in a single visit. It's also smart to replace a key that's cracked, bent or has a worn out remote before it fails completely and leaves you stuck.

What Is Required For Car Key Replacement?

Have your ID and proof of ownership ready, such as the registration or title, because we need to confirm the car is yours before we make a key. Share the year, make and model, plus the VIN if you have it (it's on the driver side dashboard and on your registration). Tell us whether you have any working key left, since copying an existing key is quicker than starting from scratch. Let us know where the car is parked and we'll come to you.
